I'm suddenly very happy. i don't understand why. After feeling quite sad/depressed over the whole yesterday's plethora its weird that I'm now feeling quite so very happy indeed. I'm not a person who suffers from moodswings so it feels very funny that I'm very happy all of a sudden.
Merf asked me to help him transcribe Dr Ulf Ekman's speech this morning. I thought it would be so easy. I was so wrong. It was incredibly hard! Dr. Ulf speaks like 6 to 14 words a second and I can only like type maybe one word per second? Yeah. It was rather frustrating listening to the same sentence over and over again to catch it in typewritten word. In the end I only managed to transcribe about 600 plus words after an hour of tries. No good. Have to learn to type faster. Something like in the region of one of my good Barker friends, Joshua. The bugger can type at like 150 words per minute! No joke! I've never seen anyone type so fast in my life before. And I once thought that mum's 80 wpm was fast. Best thing is that he's so fast and SO accurate. Well perhaps that explains why he being my age manages to earn like about 4k a month doing computer stuff for big corporations - and this is coming from a guy who didn't exactly do well in school. Inspiration indeed.
I just went around Holland V just now. Running around the place to buy breakfast for my night shift tonight. If everything goes well, I and if I take the first block of work that goes till 5a.m, I'll be having a nice breakfast of bread with chili tuna at about 4a.m in the morning on the boat. Talk about an early breakfast.
I met up with a former friend of mine. Tim Misir - he's quite famous I guess in ACJC. Another true blue ACSian of 12 years. He was previously my class monitor in primary 2 and not only that, he was also formerly my neighbour about 8 plus years ago till he shifted house. Yes, he's the person who brought me to Christian Fellowship a long long time ago in ACPS back at Canning Rise. Both his parents are staunch Christians so they just felt it would be nice to drag "the neighbour ACS boy in Tim's class" to CF as well. Thank God they did.
So he was there enjoying a nice lunch, having an off day from the army along with his mum and his sis - Nicole Misir from TWO SC EIGHT! Nic is such a smart girl and she's really nice too to boot. Its quite a pity that she shut down her blog like two days ago after people started abusing her tagboard. No, I wasn't one of them. Serious.
Lots of AC people in Holland Village. As usual a whole crowd of people camping in Burger King as well as STARBUCKS. Ok, by the mathematical induction hypothesis of the probability density distribution function of T Squared's theory. I can say for certain that there would be alot of people in Gloria Jean's Coffee as well. Another hot spot for "studying". As though we did any studying there, seriously. You can't study in ACJC. Really. You can't. There's just TOO much distraction around. Its really hard to focus.
Whoa! I saw the TRUE ACJC POSTER GIRL in Holland Village! Shu Wen! The track and field girl whose face appears on the posters promoting the school! Her codename was "poster girl 1" in 'recognition' of her success. Who'll inherit the 'poster girl 1' codename next year? Ashley? or Natalie? or the 1AA2 girl? (erm, porn star?). Let's see...It'll be an interesting development of "carrying on the tradition". Acknowledgably, Shu Wen has a very nice smile. So I guess that's why they picked her.
Rankings are out. I think we're 8th right? I'm not so sure about that though. Internally I that ACJC is ranked around 10th or 11th in terms of quality passes. That's what I hear. Check it out yourself at the moe's press release page. read.
Wonder what Tan Wah Thong will make of our school ranking dropping from 7th when I went in, to 8th now. We got lots of scholars, we got WINSTON CHIN and BOON LEONG. But really, when it comes to the general cohort, we're quite crappy honestly. I mean. I think the highest in the SG combi was AAB. So quite sad. Even more ironic is that the girl who got the AAB was like one of the super party girls in ACJC (SPG????). Perhaps that's why they sacked LHS (presumably resigned officially). I think Kelvyna will be under alot of pressure to deliver the goods. With Daniel Khor by her side, we should be getting the top grades in physics soon!
I think its a bad move for ACJC to try to make it to the top 5 in the hopes that good students from ACSI will come over to ACJC. The thing is that ACSI students don't want to come to ACJC because half of them have NO LOYALTY to the school! There are so many Barker people who so badly want to go to ACJC and few make it and ACJC just happily desires to try to be the extra in the field of HCJC and RJC. Put more Barker People in the school and watch the school spirit fly! The AC Spirit is very strong in Barker still. Believe me. Go cheer at a competition for ACJC and a competition for ACS Barker. There will be a tremendous difference. I guarantee that.
There are only 109 True Blue ACSians from last year's batch out of 811 students. Minus the girls. We are a disaster for the AC Spirit. Our AC Spirit is dying slowly. Even old boys from 20 years ago remark about the "lack of AC Spirit". One day, finding a True Blue ACSian will be uncommon indeed. Thank God I can call myself one. ACS FOREVER!
