Listening to Hillsongs UNITED LIVE - Need You Here
zzz
After blogging my last post early this morning, or what I would prefer to as "last night". My body just drew me to my bed and I knocked out. I guess its only fair to "repay" the sleep that I owe my body after putting it through a torturous 4-6 hour sleep per day regime the last few days.
So I slept, until almost 10 plus this morning. Rejuvenating. I'm supposed to be at ministry for the whole day today. But I gave my ministry I/Cs, some wrong info last week that I'll be finishing my night shift yesterday. In the end, I was only expected to be in church this afternoon to serve the Lord. Its almost like a timely break when my body needs it really badly. I don't think I would have crawled out at bed again today at 6 if I had to do ministry work.
Mum tells me its no good to just sleep 4 hours everyday and push myself 20 hours or more solid each time mentally. I agree, every now and then I get this throbbing pain in my head when I'm just walking slowly. Hope its nothing serious. Dad has been like living on a 4 hour sleep a day regime since his army days - which makes it more than 30 years already. If he can do it. Why not me?
newspaper
I didn't like the new Sunday Times. They were hyping over the format that it would be more of a lifestyle newspaper rather than a news broadcasting paper on sunday, but what I find is that there is really no focus in the writings. Its too haphazardly arranged. Besides, there is no real news, just about people, investing, wine, and other nonsense. I can't even find the comics section anymore! Nonsense man! I think I better subcribe to the chinese newspaper on sundays. I can't read it for nuts, but at least I can read the pictures for information.
church
Church was great! Ministry work was once again great! Now that my hair is finally longer (like 1 and 1/2 inches long) I can style it a little bit. Given that I'm not the sort of person who actually gels or sprays my hair, I'm really bad at this styling business. I only put some hairspray into my hair because basically everyone is expected to do so, for a "more professional image". I dont' like spikey hair, I don't like frilly hair. I just like the messy i-just-got-out-of-bed hairstyle. Ok, perhaps its because I'm too lazy to do anything to my hair.
I think in my life in ACS, I only gelled my hair 3 times. Once in Primary 3. But the older boys told me I was too young then. Then another time in Sec 2. And then everyone just stared at me. Its weird when people get used to seeing you without gel in your hair then suddenly you put on some gel. The only other time I wore gel was on the Prom night. I really had no choice. It was like a last minute decision. Matt told me I ought to just "chuck some gel in my hair to look nicer". As though I look very nice like that! So yeah. I just squeezed like a nice handful of L-Squared's Lo'real Gel. Then my hair appeared really blue in all the camera close up shots! Nonsense man! And it was really hard to wash my hair free of the gel later on at about 4a.m in the morning.
I loved church today. Worship was first class. We sang that new song? Need You Here? Its a beautiful song. And I remember 5 years ago many traditional churches in Singapore were laughing off Hillsongs as another lousy Christian music generating band. Now they're really good. Very God-Centered lyrics. And the standard of musicianship has increased tremendously.
Merf wasn't at church today, high fever I was told. Hope he gets better soon. Other than that, it was really packed at service today. As I'm in a standing position during the entire service. I could basically see people sitting on the stairs everywhere and basically there wasn't enough space/chairs in the entire hall. Pastor preached a great message today. But I'm not really concerned about the message. More concerned about applying it into my life. That's where it really counts. Somehow I could stand for 2 straight hours today without feeling tired - must be the sentry duty I tell you.
There was a water baptism service at church today. And I was supposed to do some logistics work. But since everyone else was tied up in the water baptism service. I did practically nothing after church today! Just sat around and wasted time till my team leader told me to "just go off". But they were really encouraging to me. "To serve in the midst of my NS", "even though you're so tired". Somehow I think they're quite impressed with me by the fact that I'm doing ministry work during my NS. I mean, compared to army, its not really a big deal. Army guys come out DEAD. I come out after sleeping on the boat!
Oh ya. Apparently someone has died during army training again. One of the guys told me. This fella ran his 2.4, collapsed and just died on the spot. I think they need to revise the IPPT standards. I little bit too much on the unrealistic side I feel. Or perhaps you can attribute this to Mindef's "doctors". Everyone somehow gets Pes A or Pes B. I heard that they are basically forced to certify the enlistees Pes A or Pes B because of a lack of combat fit manpower. Everyone is coming in with all kinds of problems that if they were all given Pes C or Pes E, we might as well not have an army already.
Its weird that all these enlistees that die during training are certified to be Pes A or Pes B. "Fit" or "Very Fit". Some of the Pes A people I know can't run for nuts sake. And some of the Pes E people I know can run as fast as Send Song! Nonsense man! I heard that lots of people die during NS training. Its not fair to these people to die at such a young age. So much for "decisive force" - they just decide that everyone becomes cannon fodder if politics aren't going well enough.
Church was really wonderful. I don't mind going to church 5, 6 times a week if every church service was like this. I don't mind standing through every service doing ministry work if I have to. Because church is really a wonderful place to be with and get to know God and get to learn about God and to love God more with other like-minded people. Church rocks!

Nothing more than that as for today. Whole family went to the club (SSC) for some Oktoberfest dinner which sucked. 16 bucks for some super salty nonsense and now I'm like SO THIRSTY!
I remember once in ACJC. When I had one of those classic "bachelor's parties" for the guys that just couldn't make it with girls. We had a barbeque at brother's magnificent mansion. Then at that time I was suffering from a bought of cold so bad that I basically lost all my sense of smell.
And then they served us chicken wings that were SO SALTY I could taste the SALT! Then I was told that some guy who marinated the chicken wings was a boarding house guy at ACS(I). He had soaked the chicken wings in soya sauce overnight. Horrifyingly salty it was. Our entire "consignment" of Chicken Wings was wasted. So the 50 or so of us (yeah, brother's house is THAT BIG) just camped around waiting for another guy to happily barbeque 10 satays sticks at a time on a super tiny electric grill. Quite nonsense, but also quite fun as later we called pizza and begged a few AC Girls to come over only to find to their dismay about 50 plus guys that "cannot make it". With horribly "fattening" food to boot.
Well, as Rod Steward would say. Some AC Guys just "get all the luck". Leaving others like me out in the fray. AW, SO SAD!
Mum says she's going to cook less food for me now. I am getting too fat. I've gained 10kg since I've entered ACJC. Nonsense man!
Came home to find a flea market at Holland V! So I just asked dad to stop the car and me and my bro jumped out on the road to "join the fun". Nothing much really. All girls' stuff on sale.
My bro bought some earings for some MG girl that he's apparently crazy over, then I really take the cake for buying weird things. I bought I can of fire gelly. You know? When a caterer uses those silver platters for the food, they always have this little thing that emits a small flame beneath the platter to "keep the food warm". Yeah. I bought that I now I don't know why I bought it and have no idea what to do with it.
Other than that. I guess I have to go rest early tonight since its going to be a day shift tomorrow. And yeah. I have to fast to make up for my failed fast on Thursday.
