Listening to Don Moen - Give Thanks
nonsense patrol
I had a damn weird patrol yesterday with the monkeycrap crew commander. Coupled with another jabroni of a 1st gunner. It was so funny doing patrol. Everything was like different for once.
For starters, my boat was switched at the final last moment. As in 15 minutes before we were to set out, our boat encountered some problems and we had to rush to start up another boat as well as transfer all our equipment and stuff across. One day seriously, I think I'm going to fall into the Kallang Basin for sure. The way I cross from one boat to another is really negative safety. Ok lah. Have to Thank God for preventing me from dropping into the sea so far. I'm not really worried about getting wet. More worried about drowning the handphone.
I was allowed to sleep at 2, instead of 4a.m. Surprisingly, even though I rested in the afternoon yesterday. I felt so dead tired by 2a.m. I don't understand why I can last till 5a.m on the computer anytime but start to switch off at about 1a.m plus on the boat. Perhaps the rocking motion really induces drowsiness. I can't really say for sure.
Yesterday's water was rather choppy, so there was this point I banged my spine against the starboard side door handle. Its like the hard metal hitting my backbone in an instant. It was so damn painful. Thank God I'm not paralysed, cos it was really bad a bang. As usual, I'm getting injured on the boat everytime I board it. Yesterday was no exception as I scraped my arm on one of the switches of the boat. The cut is quite deep and even as I type this, the wound has not closed up yet.
Patrol sector was fun! We're were just patrolling the area slightly off the Western Quarantine Anchorage. Many many ships anchored in the waters then and there. So our radar was like so flooded with contacts. Lots of lights as well since we were only about 2 nautical miles away from the beach. I can see the CITY in the west, all the way to the Bayshore condominium in the East. Can see planes taking off from Terminal 1 flying directly above us as well. I had the chance to speed around the patrol sector in our boat late at night just for the kick of cutting a bunker by the bow and "giving them backwash".
I slept and no one woke me up. I woke up at about 7.45a.m. So that's like the longest I've ever slept on the boat in my life. Then in the morning, we did some "rescue operation" by picking up a basketball from the sea as well as one of the Coast Guard fenders that had most probably dropped off another 2nd Gen Coast Guard boat. When we brought the fender on the deck, a little crab fell out! So i just kept it in a tuna tin can. Then it escaped and got lost on the boat and we couldn't find it. So my crew commander it would bite someone's b*lls when that person is sleeping on the boat. Oh well. Too bad for that unfortunate person.
Other than that, the only other thing was that a dead body was picked up off the waters of the Merlion this morning. SI Norman attended to the case and said that the body got stuck underneath the esplanade bridge. It was probably a person who just drank until he was so drunk on Clifford Pier and then fell into the sea and drowned. Worst, goes to show how SLACK the customs and immigration authority people are! Their base is there and they can't even spot a dead body floating in the water till daybreak! Told you, they are pretty much another redundant and useless gahmen organisation who get paid just to chop passports. Uselss policeman who can't watch out for the safety of others in a super empty place!
I returned to base and then one of the SCs on SI's boat was telling me that they didn't have a body bag, so my crew commander gave them ours. Civil Defence were in the base to lug off the body. The stench was quite so very bad indeed. Then these Civil Defence people are so amusing. Everyone else after handling the case just had no appetite and the CD people went to buy food right after loading the body on the ambulance! Quite rubbish in my opinion. I passed by The Esplanade as well as Clifford Pier on my way home and there was "this smell" in the air that wasn't very pleasant. So Atek was right after all, the smell is truly horrible.
Ironically, I think Nico's boat picked up two dead bodies yesterday as well. Nonsense man. Other people don't even see one during the stint of their NS and he gets TWO in one night. Nonsense man.
Pardon me for me being so morbid sounding. But there's no need to fear death since my King has already conquered and defeated it.
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." - John 6:47. How true! How comforting! How much it displaces any worry and anxiety! The Word of God is really the Way the Truth and the Life! And it brings joy as well as peace!
I'm going to cycle to Dempsey road later. Its so called the "new Holland Village". Perhaps I'll go get some photos as well. Two of my dream Black and White houses are in the road just nearby. Besides, my bicycle shop is there. It got featured in the papers yesterday for selling bikes up to the price of about 2000 bucks. The truth is that the best mountain bike there is a cool 11 000 bucks! Perhaps I can go get my bike tuned up or something. See how.

Whoa! Your last comment can past off as a blog post in its essence already! Oh, I think with respect to Nicole's blog, other people were posing as her good friends and putting all kinds of comments into her tagboard. It has been going on for a few weeks already. So that's quite sad that such a thing has to happen to such a nice girl. So sad. Here's the URL. i can't recover the tagboard comments. My computer skills not so powderful.
Er. As for the OTHER NICOLE, its THAT NICOLE from SG4 1st three months your year. I'm not sure about whether she's doing ARTS or Science. But its quite wasted for a 7 pointer girl to do ARTS when she's clearly science oriented. Argh! Super Chio Bu! Just watch the AC guys heads turn when she passes through the void deck. Can drool and then can die. 1st day I saw her I almost died lor. T Squared also, so did L Squared. Even JAMES turned his head. Then Prof Wang was like, "Whoa! St Nick so power one ah?".
The day before the Fun-O-Rama. I saw her painting her class stall's banner. Then we were also spray painting ours just like 7 meters away. I tell you. When she came "on the scene". All the guys couldn't continue their work. We were just stunned by her looks lor. Then erm, for Last Year's Rugby Finals at the Police Academy, she was also there hanging around behind the bleachers. And then all these guys from the 3rd row of the stands just stopped cheering to turn behind and gawk at her. I guess she's used to it lah, so no harm looking/staring a little bit longer. =P How I wish she stayed in ACJC man! The ChinaDoll rocks the set!
Shu Wen is damn nice? Ok! I'll beieve you if you said that. I remember during my JC2 days, like about 5 plus or so. Some of the guy friends I knew would "go jogging" on the track on the days that the Track and Field people trained just to see her and say hi to her whilst running on the track. Argh. Her smile can make you go off course if you look at her when you're running on the track. SCGS girl right? Correct? That's what some of my friends told me.
Well, let's just say that my 2 years in AC where amongst the shallowest I had in terms of relating to girls. Seriously. With the guys its no prob since I've known them for like 4,7,10,12,13 years already. But with the girls. Its like we always try to "filter" the girls we knew as friends to only those that could meet our expectations of a potential gf. For the girls we never dated, we'd often go to great lengths just to get noticed by her. For other girls, its like just a hi-bye-wateva relationship. Even with my class girls. The class guys are also like "just friends" with them on the basis that we were in the same class together. So if you feel that guys only want to know popular/smart/pretty girls with assets. Then you are quite so very right indeed. I think Charles is the only guy in the school that I know of who doesn't descriminate amongst friends for looks and stuff. He really epitomises loving thy neighbour as thyself.
Come on. I see a girl like Ashley and immediately I get the thought, I want to know her. I see Lynnie on my first day of school and start thinking of means and ways to make friends with her (it was easy cos she was a class girl!). I see Wan Ting in the LT during my first day of F maths lecture and then I start wondering when I can get to know her. Its not healthy I'd say. But I also don't know why I can't avoid getting such thoughts.
Its true. We often take girls for granted. I find that true in my life. As for going overseas. I'm quite fine with that. I don't mind living alone in a foreign country. As long as I can survive here and there, study, do well in my studies, go to church. I'm quite happy already. I seem to enjoy solitude more than being in a big crowd. I enjoy working alone as opposed to working with other people. True, friends are very important. For me, just have a small handful of very good friends and I'm more than contented. I can't relate so well to everyone I know in life. So I'll just have to narrow it down to a few. Even with these few, I just take the friendships for granted. For me, working alone in a Lighthouse is quite ok. For other people, it would drive them mad. My thoughts are more than enough of company to me already. Besides I don't relate very well to other people, so its a two fold effect.
Well I'll just say that I don't really have that much passion for God. I'm not a very good Christian, honestly speaking. I just want to love God and love people. I want to Love God and Love people. That's all. But honestly, I haven't exactly been doing a good job at all. I can say that I desire to know God more, so I always make it a point to attend conferences, seminars and bible study. I also want to have more opportunities to meet up with God, so I try to go for cellgroup as often as I can, and make sure I go for service at least once every weekend (I'll go on Sat if I have to work on Sun). Its a great opportunity to Praise and Worship God. I love it very much. The ministry work I do is what little I can give back to God for what He has done for me. Mei, what I am doing is not even the least that God expects from His Children! Don't respect me! I'm quite lousy a Christian. Respect Charles! Respect Aunty Ros!
I don't blame you for a lack of attachment in your church. The truth is that there are not many good churches around, in Singapore, or Australia to say the least. I used to go to other churches, in fact, I used to church hop alot and it was pretty much the same everywhere I went when I was younger:
The youth ministries are forever taking second place to the adult ministries. Church service is so boring, so dead so dull and so dry. There is no excitement and praise when its time to praise. No real worship and presence of God when its Worship time. Everyone gives to God out of the bottom of the barrel. People more interested in your dressing, your education, your friends, your looks, your personality and your mistakes and sins instead of your character. Then there's forever this bunch of grave old men who will block every attempt for the youth to do things for God their way, believing instead on traditions. Then there's no real joy in knowing God. Bible study sucks. I don't learn how to apply whats in the Bible into my life. Think ACJC chapel and ACJC CF. One is a complete disaster and the other one is God's Plan A for revival in ACJC. ACJC calls itself a Christian School founded by Christian Misionaries on Christian Principles. I tell you now its all nonsense. Complete rubbish! Even RJC has more Christians in the school than ACJC!
The number one thing about many churches that I don't like? Everyone loves to hype! Hype about "going all out for God" for "evangelising to the lost" for "doing the great commission" for "being great believers" etc etc. But actually, no one does anything. Like the whole youth ministry is only powered by a couple of leaders and not everyone else! The other thing I don't like? Its like they never preach relevant things, never teach practical things and everyone comes to church giving each other the impression that they are like the best Christians on the planet needing no help, likes its a lost of face to acknowledge that you are weak or faltering in a particular area. Can you imagine? You're rotting inside as a Christian, come to church and have to put on a front that you're a great Christian and you're doing well. Another thing I don't like is that people go more by feelings instead of faith. And its always the "God loves you" John 3:16 sermons and people cry foul when the preacher speaks about hell and damnation. This is rubbish man.
Thank God my church isn't like that!
There's one visiting Pastor that comes to my church every now and then. He's Dr. Phil Pringle? Yeah? They call him an Apostle of Faith. I think he has a branch church in melbourne. Ala Third Place style - cafe Church. Just give it a go yeah?
