I came back from my attachment about an hour ago. Not going to church this week. Too tired. Mum and Dad request that I stay at home today as well. Besides, I can always watch the service live on the net. Merf and Alice relented on my "absence call" today. Just a sunday that isn't going to God.
I didn't like my attachment witht he CPC. The whole thing sucked honestly. The boat is 20 over years old and poorly designed. It is very easy to fall off the staircases and the grab poles are in areas that expose your arms to cuts and abrasions from screws that protrude out from nowhere.
The toilet is disaster. On the other boats (besides the one at Limi Chu Kang - toilet unusable) the toilets have an automatic flushing system. Here, you have to manually pump and wash it down with water - so the whole toilet stinks really bad.
The crew was very unfriendly, unlike the ones at Gul and LCK which I worked with. The crew here seemed to only care about their own things and not bother about us. On the other attachments, I was taught how to use the radar, night vision devices and the tricks of the trade. Here, I was just condemned to watching a radar and watching the sea on the bridge.
If this is what they call an elite patrol squadron, then I will take Gul to be my preferred base instead. It sucks totally! The CO was very rude to all of us (yeah, he happens to be Another Stupid Policeman - an ASP). The crew was really mean towards us. It is so obvious, they didn't smile at us, gave us cold stares and cold shoulders. Except for the cook and the radar plotter, who was my so called "tutor on attachment".
I don't like the system onboard the CPS craft. Its almost like a regimental army officer shouting commands at poor weaklings. At the other bases, there's no need for formality and no requirements to call the crew commander/coxswain a "sir". Here, they are super particular about the way you address them - right down the the regular corporals.
Well, I think they can stay in their little well of their own tiny world and keep their unfriendly and oh-so-supremist attitues. It'll be the dearth of others and the death of them.
Prestige in guarding Pedra Branca and the Horsburge Lighthouse? Perhaps. But I can always go there on the 3rd Gen Craft from Gul or Kallang once I get my boat license.
Until then, the entire CPS can KISS MY ASS!
