listening to Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald - Dream a little dream of me
I had to put this up. Go to TalkingCock.com and vote for the National Day awards!
Gabriels blog, Balderdash has an excellent write up on National Service and the Military for hire in general. As much as I wish I could write in all this complex literary language, I'm fine expressing myself in simple words. Understand the complex vocabulary. But don't flaunt it unless necessary.
Quote of the Day, "My daughter can go to UCL, one of the top Medicine Universities in the World, and yet cannot even go to NUS". That's true. I think our local universities love to think that they are oh-so-great in their "areas of speciality". Truth is, they just have a reluctant intake of people that are only there because they have no money to go overseas, or just can't bear to leave Singapore.
Our top students go overseas. Our "bottom" students go overseas. Our middle stays if they have no money, and leaves if they can fork out the money to study overseas. What say you NUS and NTU? Don't boast about what you don't have.
I must admit, that the standards for accountancy have lowered significantly. A formerly AAB course is now a CCC course. Woo... we'll be seeing lots of "Engineering students turned Accountanccy wannabes" soon!
