Daniel Huang from ACSI? Whose former best friend is Efrem Lim from 2SC3? I believe I know you. In fact, I think, we were in the same class from Primary 1 to Primary 3. Go check your class magazine in primary 1 for my entry. Its on fishes.
You went to RJC right? Not sure of the sport, but I think it was either rugby, basketball or soccer. Somewhere around the three sports. The diet of Creatine in ACSI did bulk you up quite abit. And of course, your trademark cheeky smile for some practical joke you had played.
Your favourite phrase in Primary 2: "One Zillion".
Catching was always fun. You'd be the policeman with great determination to catch everyone. Just that when it was your turn to be the thief and you were caught, you'd sulk about it in class. No?
Remember fighting with wooden rulers that ironically, happened to be a gift from Lao Shi in primary school for scoring 98 marks for the chinese test?
The past is truly nostalgic even as I recall it sometimes.
I did see you in ACJC every now and then, but most likely, you were around to visit your other ACSI buddies.
Let me know. Did I get it right?
a happy shift
Last night, I probably had the best crew set ever. Everyone was very nice. The crew commander was this Senior Staff with like 23 over years of Coast Guard experience. He was very kind and friendly and gladly took time to explain the intricacies of the sea to me. He's good man, best, he didn't make a fuss or anything when I made mistakes here or there. I hope to go out to sea with him more often.
The 1st gunner was my crew commander for monday. So basically, we chatted and chatted and talked about everything. Time passes quite slowly from the time of 8 to about 1a.m on the boat. After that, 1a.m to about 7 a.m is but a breeze. I just passed the time on my shift chit-chatting with my crew commander about all kinds of nonsense and reading yesterday's edition of the NewPape - which had been left there by the previous day-shift crew. Kym Ng doesn't look like Kym Ng! Her face is so red - it looks like its a doctored (i.e: "Airbrushed") picture! Its boring being on the boat, seriously.
Nothing much I'd say, the area of patrol was off Sentosa again, so the water was quite calm and peaceful. Gentle, undulating waves with not much rocking or yawing. Yet, I couldn't revise for my Basic Theory test later today because reading on the sea causes eyestrain. Too bad, I guess that's the trade off. My issues of Time, Newsweek and NatGeo are piling up because I have simply no time to read them all!
I only did some work in the morning and that was to spot check 2 Indonesian Trade Crafts. Once again, with their trademark rickety-ness and "sinkability". I wonder how they survive a storm in that kind of thing. There's like practically no shelter on the entire boat. And I wonder how come the MPA allows them to enter our waters without any safety appliances onboard. It really wouldn't be nice if a few of them fell overboard and drowned since they don't have life jackets or any other life-preserving appliances on board. Tsk Tsk. All thanks to us allowing them into our country's waters in the first place without any due regard to safety!
Its quite sad that Passion 99.5 FM is closing down! My favourite radio station that plays all the nice Jazz Songs from 8 to 11 on weekdays is going off the at the end of this year. Quite sad. I hope they have some sale of all their CDs or something at cheap prices. I'll just ask dad to fork out some cash to buy their entire jazz collection at a big discount! =P
The patrol later than any other patrol before. Apparently, the team that was to relieve us of duty took their own sweet time to get through their briefing, in addition, they didn't speed to our patrol areas to relieve us of duty, but chose rather to cruise slowly to our location.
The SSS on board is the 2nd in charge of my team. He told me the next time, our whole team will relieve the other team equally late! A tit for a tat! I normally get back to the jetty by about 9.30 latest. Today it was close to 10.00. Quite unacceptable a delay.
I'm really quite tired now. Probably not making much sense as I blog here. Have to really catch up on my sleep, especially in the face of that stupid Basic Theory test later in the evening. I ddn't study much for it. Just want to clear it and get it done and over with.
I need to get this book. The Art of Plain Writing. My expression in writing is still quite poor. I'm rambling more than I write/speak/communicate. My thoughts don't flow nicely. Not good. I really hope that I can learn a few tips on writing better as well as speaking better.
silence night, gentle peace
stillness and quietness
not a sound of motion about
as the mind draws to a close
but the eyes struggle to awake
on duty at night
on patrol
