listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - Let's call the whole thing off

marketing again

Followed mum to go shop for food at Tekka Market. I love the place. Dirty, wet, filthy, smelly - but its so real and such an honest segment of society.

Tink-tink-tink-tink!

childishness

There's been a whole spate of bad news in the papers lately. The coverage has been excessively sad as of late: CPF Cuts, Bombings, Israli-Palestinian Tensions, UN headquarters bombed, policemen struck by his own baton, maid murdering employer.

All I can say is that I notice an increase in violent crimes in Singapore. Perhaps, due to the recession, people don't steal anymore. They kill to get the money instead of robbing. And I think that the policeman who had his face struck by his own baton really deserves it! How can he let his own baton get snatched away?

Anyway, as for that case, I think he'll be charged for lossing possession of his baton. However, he is justified to open fire at the guy who snatched his baton. The T Baton is classified as an offensive weapon that can legally be used to apply force and restrain violent criminals under the law. Once anyone snatches it away and attempts to use it in an offensive manner, the policeman is justified to open fire to kill. In this case, he just chose to incapacitate - perhaps he didn't want to go through the ardous process of penning ten reports about the whole incident.

Think about it, its very childish to complain about bad Tracom food when half the world starves. Its very immature to forever be writing about your own infatuations when people are dying everywhere. Its very foolish to think that a degree is the most important thing around for now when there's all this imminent threat of terrorism in Singapore. Likewise, I think its foolish to bitch about public transport when you never know when you might just die.

I think Singapore's way too peaceful for comfort.

One of the regulars told me yesterday that after I've served 1 and a 1/2 years with the force, I can apply to do my NS outside Singapore as a United Nations PeaceKeeper in Iraq! There's honor, there' the medal, there's the regular pay and most of all - there is the expansion of horizons. In addition, my National Slavery liability will be cut by half! So I'll only need to work 6 months.

But can I take it? Can I take the danger? The risk? The Fear? The environment? The lack of baci amenities? The fact that I have sleep with an assault rifle and be alert to open fire at anytime in a lawless land? Though I sleep with my revolver on the boat, I don't think I'll ever have to open fire. But in Iraq - anything goes.

Actually I don't mind. I am too comfortable being here. I have to go really see how terrible and cruel our world really is. And the process of maturity can accelerate a little and turn me from a childish boy into a much better MAN! =)

for anonymous

The guy on the left is Zhennan. The one being bullied is Prof. Wang. And the one on the right is Ish - the Great Indian Mathematician. I was the one who took the photo.

Anyway, here's another shot of it, everything was just staged for the "fun of it".

Hey! We're just brothers, just having some fun right?

Perhaps I might know you. Because I know too much for the comfort of most people.

childish rambling
kiddish thoughts
insincere out of touch feelings
selfish desires
impatience, immaturity, pride
feelings of superiority
must be all but humbled
in the wake
of maturity
