I have a tremendous load I have to get off my chest in this gigantic post. I will edit it later tonight, but for now, I'll just account for my sunday.

now listening to Perfect King - United Live (Power man this song!)
The desire of my heart
The Lover of my soul
And I, will worship you with all my heart
For You are worthy
And I will bow to You my Perfect King

So Dad happily drove me to church at 120 Km/h! A half an hour journey only took 12 minutes! I looked forward to serving God in ministry another day. Though of course, I knew that I would be damn tired after it all, I find that its worth it. =)

I wore a suit to church! Hahahah! That's probably like my most formal attire I've ever worn in church! The last time I wore a suit was at the PROM. George and Merf were telling me that my suit was WAY TOO BIG for me and gave me an exaggerated proportion. I found it damn comfortable can? The bigger is better and I think it looketh nice enough.

Basically, since I was still new, the other people in the ministry showed me what was expected of me/them and helped me go through the rounds and get into the motion of doing things. Apart from having to dress formally, other than that, I can say that I enjoy doing this. Although standing for up to 4 hours at one go can be rather tiring.

I wore the pair of shoes from the Police that were meant for sentry duty to church! What to do? Its Hush Puppies and whats more, its a new pair of shoes! But even then, at the end of the day, my feet were really tired. Worst, at like the opening of the shoe, the surrounding material is so high that the thing actually bangs my outer ankle each time. Its ok to walk like that for a few hundred metres, but for 8 hours and you've got nice set of bruises on the outer ankles. And its damn pain to walk after that.

I realised that Bata makes like the only Asian Men's Black shoe worth wearing, but the quality is so bad, and the comfort totally non existent you can Buy And Throw Away (BATA) the shoe! And with all the imported brands from America and Europe, the shoe designs are to fit westerners and not Asian men!

My dad gripes that in his whole entire life, he has not been able to come across a good pair of men's BLACK Shoes that give good grip on wet ground, is comfortable to wear for long periods of time, fit the Asian Man's foot nicely and doesn't look too much like Dr Marten's with the orange-ish sole!

Dad isn't kidding, he's been through pairs of shoes that have cost him thousands of dollars EACH. He really looks for good shoes since he wears them for 16 hours a day and yet he can't find a single brand that will meet his requirements. I think so as well. There needs to be a shoe company that designs quality, good and trendy shoes for Asian Businessmen!

Yeah! So I'll set up a rival shoe factory to Bata and call it SATA (Serial ATA!). Hahahah! I'm just kidding, But yeah, there's demand for good black men's shoes. I think so many shoes shops just cannot make it with their range of black men's shoes. And I think that squarish designs for the toe part of the shoe is disgusting! Reflects a total lack for ergonomics and creativity!

My feet were aching after all that walking around the church. It was seriously damn pain... Hush Puppies is comfortable, but their cuttings are very poor! Clarks is probably still the best!

Then I almost lost the issued MagLite torchlight. I left it in the church cafe after having lunch. It was missing for just 15 minutes only but by then, even the Asst Chief of Security had heard about it. Wow, news really spreads fast... I'll have to be more careful with such objects in future.

The torchlight was later returned to me by the church's photographer. Interesting thing to note: I paid my tithe then lost my torchlight. Then I asked God to help me get it back and it came back almost instantly. So weird! But I'm sure God had something to do with it again! Hahahah!

So basically, for the morning part of my work, I had to walk around the church building with another guy to make sure that things were all in order. The only highlight I would say was that I had the honour of carrying the bag with all the tithes and offerings inside to somewhere in the church for counting. Just assuming that 1000 people each gave 10 bucks.. That's already 10K! And obviously it must have been more, because the bag full of cash was SO heavy!

I didn't see the goth doll punk girl usher in church today. Too bad too sad I guess. Most probably see her 2 weeks down the road. Must have been her off day yesterday or maybe she skipped church!

Other than that, the other duty I performed in the afternoon was to just take care of the floor part of the church. Nothing difficult and the perks of doing duty in that area was that I had a seat reserved for me! So I was quite happy I could rest my tired tired feet.

church

Praise was very good. So good, just that I couldn't jump around no thanks to that heavy maglite hanging on my belt! I can't exactly take it out because the whole thing looks like an offensive weapon - similar to that of a police T Baton.

Worship was very good as well. I'm quite happy with yesterday's service and how it went. Won't talk too much about the sermons and stuff lar. Now, I have to hurriedly take down notes and stuff them into my bible after church so that I can rush back to resume normal duty. Its not easy and its tiring, but I feel somehow, surprisingly happy doing it.

Then I rushed back home to get changed and rushed down to the base for night shift. Of course, I had just enough time to blog my last post.

base

I arrived at base really early and with Rahmat's help, managed to start the boat running in double quick time. The crew set was the same as yesterday and so basically, I had a super slack crew commander.

It was quite a boring night I'd say. I ended up with the same area of patrol: Waters of Changi Naval Base. The water was surprisingly once again, calm. I think when the monsoon comes I'll like vomit or something when the boat Yaws (shakes side to side) violently with about 12 degrees of yaw. 10 degress of yaw is enough to capsize a canoe, make a standing person on a boat fall and a seated person slide of the chair. Yesterday's yaw was in ther range of 4-7 degrees, so it was quite manageable, except when eating dinner! My deep fried ikan bilis also can "swim away".

The crew commander was damn slack. He let me steer the boat and thought me the finer points of steering a straight course. On land, its like quite simple to steer a straight course. On sea, not easy! Have to account for set and drift and wind and all kinds of waves coming in from different directions as well as backwashes from other ships.

Not easy. In the end, I just used Bedok Lighthouse to guide me steer in the darkness. It was my first time doing steering in total darkness, so it was quite nerve-wracking at first. Its so easy to just sit around and enjoy the ride, but its not so easy to steer the boat when you're at the helms!

Crew commander was a super slacker. My 2nd half of the shift started when I awoke at 4a.m. He just dozed off to sleep when I played classical music on the radio! Too bad I can't get good reception of Class 95! The Glenn and Rod show with the Extra Flying Dutchman! Sighz! No choice! Just listen to classical and hope you won't fall asleep. The reception is bad apparently because the naval base jams the frequency or something. I guess the Navy Commander at CNB likes classical music - so that's why we could get it so well! Who knows right?

As usual, I almost fell into the water when tying the ship to the jetty! I'm standing at the edge of a boat with nothing to support me except raw friction on useless BATA shoes. Its easy to just slip and fall when the boat makes a sudden jerk.

Well, I guess that's about it for my sunday. Looking forward to going on a photography expedition with Nico later on. Will blog later on SuLynn tonight. Was thinking about what I should write, how I ought to phrase things and basically trying to recollect my memory since 4a.m this morning.

Just one question Sulynn: How'd you know this is my blog?
