Listening to United LIVE - All About You

for Mel

I'm quite sure Winston was in RJC for the first 3 months. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to chat him on on the first day of the 2nd intake orientation, as the 1st intake people had to go for class.

Ironically, I met him in the badminton hall. Of all places to meet him.

Ah well. One of those particular GEPs that left an impression on me that wasn't anything close to "big time nerd" or "weirdo". READ: NIGEL WONG!

Nigel Wong

Liken him to Hannibal Lecter. A genius with erm.... Murderous intentions? I won't profile him here. He's SO famous that practically every ACS boy knows who he is and the "amazing things" he has done.

I know I'm mentally unsound. But he's truly psychotic.

money woes

Pay day was 9 days ago. I'll be broke tomorrow. =( Time to starve. The police cheated me of my 150 sea allowance and they are not going to back pay it to me! I wonder if I ought to kick up a storm to Jeffrey's father over a pathetic 150 dollars. But money is money right? Especially if it is money for an honest day's work. And I'm not going clubbing/pubbing or anything like that! I'm just using the "allowance" to buy the necessary things I need for my work in NS: T Shirt, shorts, stationery, transport, etc. I can't even eat breakfast after I finish my night shift because I have absolutely NO MONEY! Its not like I'm wasting anything like that - they are just cheating us of what's rightfully our money. They are paying way less than what's even necessary to survive.

Funny, when it comes to their side of the deal. They want us to work faster, harder, smarter, etc. When it comes to our end of the deal. We get shit pay. No rightful allowance, poor food, etc. Some things will never change. Its really true that National Service is just an absolutely DIRT cheap form of labour for the various government "institutions" to get their shit jobs done and over with. Monuments built on the backs of mistreated slaves will always be disliked and trashed for life everlasting. Its so true that almost no one has anything good to say about the army/police/civil defence.

No wonder we all hate the slavery. The pay is terrible. They try to cheat us down to the exact cent. And we don't get paid for working overtime! No benefits, nothing. Singapore's enlistment law sucks big time man! Don't be tricked by it being called "an honorable duty". Don't delude yourself to seeing from the "official perspective". There are always going to be 2 sides on the coin.

The "official perspective" on the pay issue? Oh the Police National Service department is currently having difficulties with the system and the processing of your pay structure, which will undoubtedly take some time to resolve. But it doesn't take a few months just to update your "pay amount" in the system! You only need to key in a few digits and that's all!

How stupid is the reason they give us. Perhaps they themselves are quietly siphoning the money away for themselves. Who knows right? Anything is possible. The think we are kids. But I think they forgot somewhere, that most NSmen in police are smarter academically than their regular counter-parts!

The regulars are like N levels, O levels, ITE... etc. And the NSmen are like diploma and A-level holders. I'm not looking down on such qualifications, my point is that I think that the PNS department better not think of us as a bunch as "stupid" as the regulars. Young people in Singapore today are smarter than they have ever been in 3 generations! No one is "politically apathetic" or "not-involved in national issues". We are just watching the situation very very closely. The voting right does count - since our whole NS is devoted to this voting right.

Let's all vote in more opposition into the bench! Its time we got J.B Jeyaretnam back in parliament! He can at least help slow down, if not stave off a 6% cut in the CPF when he gives opposition to such policies. Wonder if the Malya/Muslim community might desire to vote in Tang Liang Hong, the "anti-christian chinese chauvinist" who now lives in exile in Australia.

Yeah, so PAP, watch your backs. The young generation are not at all impressed with "housing benefits", "new singapore shares" or "baby bonus". The more calculative a generation is, the better will be the liberalisation and transparency of our society and country.

And its all abou the money. The money paid to us during national service that makes one big hell of an impression.

It takes two hands to clap. But one hand is sick and tired of everything.

All the world will hear this sound
Can you hear the sound of faith?
All th walls are falling down
As all the nations praise
And all the world will hear this sound
Can you hear the sound of faith?

Can You?
