conclusion
The year is out and I'm rotting at home after having a simple dinner with my family. Dad is on leave, mum doesn't work, my brother is having holidays and I'm on MC. Which means that due to certain protocol, I have to stay at home, lest the rotten base calls my house in my absence and charges me for AWOL. It doesn't matter much though, since I'm not really a party animal or anything.
Just having the opportunity to have the whole entire family at home all at once is a rare treat indeed. Thank God. Dad usually works 14 hours a day. I'm stuck with NS, my brother has school and my mum's forever just rushing around the place trying to keep our lives together - no matter how fragmented it already is. Had a whale of a time shopping yesterday for CNY stuff, even though I seem to never look forward to so called "festive occasions" due to certain personal reasons and experiences of mine own.
Met up with a couple of AC people the last few days, even at the driving centre today, I bumped into one of the chinese scholars that had attended tutorials with me back in ACJC. I guess the mathematics is the binding factor. And I just as bet there will be tomes of AC people all around the island partying the night away and enjoying the revelry of the time of they're youth.
Completed reading the five people you meet in heaven and I must say that it is a very nice book. Very thought provoking and yet emotionally poignant at times. The reversal and playing with of time that the author does is unique - never read any other book like it before. Currently, I just put down A Beautiful Mind in favour of Dude Where's my Country owing to the fact that I don't really want to get too involved in mathematical analysis in the form of text. Simple, easy reading is the best way to relax and "chill out" a weary mind.
Finally got myself MaxOnline 3000. Now I can blog wirelessly using Mum's laptop anywhere around the house. Mum's really pleased of the new found mobility that she has now found. Dad wants in too and I believe he is planning to get himself a laptop as well. Perhaps my opportunity to as for a PocketPC as well? =) Only thing is that my computer crashed today. After months of deliberation, it finally did so and I didn't "deliver the final blow" - my Dad had the "privilege" of being the last person to shut down my computer. I've more or less restored it now, big thanks going out to NICO and his suggestions to use TWO hard disks. No data was lost and I get a clean reinstall of the XP OS on my system.
Perhaps just with the hassle of updating everything and reinstalling my PhotoShop, AntiVirus, Winamp, etc. But its well worth it. All the spyware is gone and the system doesn't lag like previously. So I expect the next time my computer to crash would be sometime in June next year. Perhaps another opportunity to upgrade and get onto the 64-bit bandwidth like NICO plans.
Lastly, I'd like to wish all my regular blog readers a happy new year. I always treasure your comments, reminding me that I'm not really blogging into senseless "emptiness". I did write a concluding post, but realised that it would be far too long to post here. It is in the region of about 7 pages long and I have not even come midway.
Finally, I just want to wish Jo a very very happy birthday!
