many things in short time

I had morning shift today. Somehow, I realised on the way to base that I had forgotten to pack a pair of socks for my duty! Not that it would matter, but my feet would really smell/stink since I'll be wearing my shoes continuously for almost 12 hours. Eventually managed to get one from my previous crew commander that I did duty with on tuesday night.

Started learning more advanced stuff today like writing the craft log book and the craft Station Diary. Its ok I think, just takes some time to get used to.

Before setting off, I had the opportunity to see some of the commandos perform their free fall act at the National Stadium. Well, its probably their last practise run before tomorrow's big day.

Stood at the bridge (the highest point on the ship) for the journey to our patrol area. My crew commander let the other SC (NSman as known in Police Terms) steer the boat. He happily set it to speed at 30 knots through the morning sun and waves. It was very fun basking in the cool air and I noticed that we were actually moving faster than the birds flying in the same direction as us!

I had fun opening my mouth to "dry it out in a second" whilst the boat raced and bobbed up and down along all the backwashes. So fun! Of course, before I knew it, I had lots of seawater on my specs, which later dried to become salt deposits. There's so much salt on the outside of the boat! Just by going out one time, I can return with a light coating of salt on my uniform!

The water today was very calm. Probably just slightly more waves than the waters of Raffles Marina or the waters off the Lim Chu Kang Base. Surprisingly, time passed rather quickly today. Before I knew it, lunch had come and gone and it was already 3 in the afternoon.

I took the first shift on the boat today, so it basically meant that I ended up sleeping onboard at around 4 plus till about 6 plus. As usual, sleep was fitful and restless because of the rocking of the boat. Not to mention, the numerous sms' I get when I'm trying to sleep or when sleeping.

The area of patrol was around Pulau Busing, Pualu Semakau and Pulau Bukum. Basically, they're off shore islands hosting oil refineries for Shell. The only peaceful sights where the beaches of Pulau Hantu and Pulau Jong. A very quiet day I would say as there was only one super tanker in the waters of our patrol area. And that super tanker too, was anchored - so basically it is unlikely we would check it.

I was responsible for tying the boat at the bow today when we returned to base. It was my first time mooring the boat directly to the wharve so I didn't do it properly, but at no risk to my fingers unlike the previous time during the MPC sortie. The tugging forces are immensely great, so I have to be really careful around ropes being secured to the deck of the wharf.

heading home

Managed to leave the base at around 9.45 and caught the bus within a minute of reaching the bus stop. Whilst transferring bus, I waited SO long for the usual speedy bus: 77! Sigh! I'm quite sad to say that it is moments like these that I really want to go all out for that P plate. So I won't need to wait anymore. Why is it that there are so many buses that nobody takes coming in and no buses that everyone needs? Weird public transport system!

Just managed to come home of a really crowded bus. So crowded that it basically skipped all the stops after somerset MRT Station.

As dinner on the boat was disastrously bad (as usual), I ended up snacking on left overs from dinner.

odd happenings

I managed to see my other elusive neighbour, this girl called Adeline, who stays 3 houses down from mine. Even my mom says she pretty. Well, its not her looks that matters. Just that, as usual, my mom has been comparing me to her since I was in Sec 4. Won't forget the time I got my prelim results at Barker. I had 18 and she had like 6 points?

"Your one physics equals to her six subjects", - whoa, heart pain man! Heart Pain about having No Brain! =(

And through JC, she's like always that "idea NJC girl who studies hard and does well".

Well in the end, I have to smirk and say she fucked up her A's worst than mine and is now going to get some shit fashion design course in Australia! Can't wait for her to go and end all this comparison shit. Haw! I did better than an NJC girl who got 6 points at her big Os and did triple science! And I still played more!In addition, I didn't have to train my memorising ability every night for 2 whole years!

Ya, my mom is kicking up this huge fuss to me that she saw Adeline holding some Malay guy's hand and he walking her home. Damn! Do I give a Damn about such shit? She can go see all the guys she wants and I'm not gonna give a shit about it. I DON'T CARE and yet somehow mom JUST HAS to tell me such nonsensical stuff! ARGH! I bet she's hinting on something on a larger scale, as mei probably suggested.

Ok I'm so evil here. Actually, Adel's a very nice girl. Just that mom ends up demonising her as my academic arch nemesis, so it kinda sucks. Worst, two houses from Adel's is some RJC boy's! ARGH! FUCK MAN! Why am I always surrounded by people who are so much smarter than me? Does the bloody piece of paper matter so much?

I go to school to learn how to learn. I don't like to mug or kill myself over things that won't help me in the future. I enjoy learning but I hate to study... I love to learn about everything, but please, when people start to test me, it just kills the whole learning process.

Well, since inter-racial marriages are becoming more common and MY generation is on the whole quite open to the idea. I'm not going to care what race or religion her boyfriend comes from. It is purely NONE of my business!

prayer for the sick

On a much sadder note, my online sis' mother has contracted cancer. I hope everything goes well and that the tumour is caught in its early stages of development and that it can be cured as soon as possible without causing too much financial, emotional and mental stress on her and her family. God be with them.
