Blackout!
And within a split second everything in my house went dark. So dark that even my room became alien to me. Not just my house, I learnt very soon after, but the entire block. The entire grid for my area. At first I thought that it might have been a terrorist attack, since after all, in an electronically driven world, a power outage is usually the first signs of an aerial bombardment to come.
I realise how dependent we are on electricity only in the case of such a major blackout. No computer, no fan, no air conditioning, no lights even. Suddenly it feels like I'm being transported back to a 3rd world country. Have to be really thankful sometimes for the excellent infrastructure as well as quick response that saw the power outage being restored within slightly over an hour.

There was no power to my area for about one and a half hours or so, and for the most of the time, I just spent it outside as the moon was kind enough to grant everyone some degree of illumination. Could have been much worst had it been a moonless night. Such are times when ultra-bright xenon headlamps on a car come in very handy.
Since there was no light pollution at all as the street lights to the entire neighbourhood was out, I seized upon this opportunity to do additional night shots as well as do some astro-photography. Once again, I think its about time I bought a new tripod as my current one does not seem to be able to support my camera well.

My mum used candles to give light to the interiors for a moment. And my brother who so often postpones taking his bath had to be content to do so by torchlight instead. And yes, even though my whole family's Christian, I wonder why we don't keep aside the buddha in my house. I was told that it was a gift from my great-grandfather's time, so its something that we can't just "keep aside" or something. Well nevermind. Putting a candle next to a buddha during a blackout is rather apt indeed.
I need to get better camera lenses, even my shot of the moon, properly focused and all turned out to be slightly on the "soft" side. Meaning that it is blurred. After the moon, I just decided to shoot at a blank portion of the sky with one star visible to the eye. And when I loaded it into my computer, I was quite surprised to see that I had caught star streaks!

Anyway, Spiderman 2 is out in the cinemas. Originally I wanted to go check it out at the earliest cinema in some heartlander mall this morning. But somehow or other, I woke up at the ungodly hour of 1 in the afternoon. And this was only after somebody knocked on my door. Now I'll just buy the DVD when it comes out since the show should be block booked back to back for another 3 or 4 weeks or so. And I expect it to be number 1 as well.
In the meantime, its back to the sea at long last tomorrow. Which means longer working hours, but I don't care since I enjoy it. And I won't photoblog so often anymore, maybe just one picture or something. I'll retreat back to philosophising about life and start being introspective once again. Photo updates will just be uploaded to my portfolio page for the fun of it all.
