I've always wondered, that for the 5.1 system that I own, along with a 5.1 soundcard, I only get sound coming out from 2 of the 5 speakers. Nico told me to install/update the driver.
Now I'm happily basking in a "renewed" Audio System onboard the computer! The two pathetic speakers have now been upgraded to include 2 more channels, left rear and right rear. Only thin is that I do not have speaker stands for them. My mp3s sound so much more ethreal, more realistic and indeed, it is "Surround Sound".
If I can somehow position the rear speakers to be behind me, and enable the EAX effects, I think I'm going to end up playing a new round of MOHAA with the enhanced sound. Too bad though, I wish I could have enhanced graphics, but I guess its not going to be on this computer. Atek told me that most likely it was my RAM and my motherboard that's slowing everything down.
I need 750 bucks for a motherboard and RAM upgrade. In addition to the 1500 for the Klipsch system. I think I shall take the 5.1 system instead of the 2.1 thing. No harm having more speakers on board. =) Or I could take the 4.2 system - 2 subwoofers to make it ultra-realistic!
I am going to clear up my computer desk just to enjoy the "improved sound".
Today was quite a simple day, just had live firing of the HK MP5. I didn't shoot quite well. For a gun that Heckler and Koch proudly boasts to be the "most accurate submachine gun in the world". I only managed to get in 26 out of 30 shots due to silly mistakes and errors.
Adrian did everyone prould by getting a perfect 30. As the other regular officers were also involved, such as our instructors and trainers, everyone gave SSgt Tan a rousing round of applause when it was announced that he was the only instructor who managed to get a perfect 30 as well. *Cheers!*
The shooting was done at Mandai Range, it looks exactly like the one at Rifle Range road, just that this time, we actually saw the army conduct their own live firing exercises. Best of all, it was not men, but WOMEN regulars. They don't look like women to me with their short cropped hair, masculine frames and very tanned skin. Honestly, it puts me off. It's the same with those hardcore female canoeists in ACJC. All look more like guys more than girls to me. I guess its their loss.
Was supposed to end up cleaning the MP5 at Kallang after our live firing. However, just as I was about to do so, I ended up being whisked to Brani to help SSgt Thomas carry some crates of packed water (Those 250 ml sealed plastic cups). With about 10 people from both squads combined, we managed to carry 30 crates in like 3 minutes (Many hands indeed make less work!) and SSgt Thomas gave us like 15 minutes to slack around in Brani.
We came back and all the rifles had been cleaned already! No back breaking scrubbing and polishing of the bolt! =)
Well, the Navigation Exam's tomorrow. I have not studied ONE BIT. Probably won't be able to get highest, but should be able to pass. It would be good to get highest in class again, but I have to be realistic, been told that it is such a hard topic that in previous squads, all except 1 or 2 failed. I hope to at least make it there. =)
Ended up walking around Suntec City with Nico and Atek after work today. Nico went to buy a new watch. It was a Time Engine. because I told him that they were having a 40% discount sale because of upcoming renovations. After quite a while of thinking and chosing, he finally settled for a simple, plain but elegant looking men's watch.
We later walked to Millenia Walk to check out the Hour Glass. They are one of the few places in Singapore that actually sell Brequets. And they had a 200 000 dollar Tourbillion on display!
I've made up my mind, that my first "Men's Watch" and last one will only be a BREGUET, and one day I will be rich enough to buy down all the Breguet watches in this country!
